Anti wrinkle treatment involves injection of botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is a protein made by the Clostidium botulinum bacteria. It works by blocking the release of a chemical at the nerve endings which prevents muscle contraction. It is the muscle contraction which causes unwanted wrinkles and lines.

Generally our anti wrinkle treatments take around 15 minutes per area. At present some treatments may take longer as we are taking care to make our services as COVID SAFE as possible with use of PPE (personal protective equipment).

The effect of the anti wrinkle treatment can be seen 4-5 days post treatment, though the maximum effect is seen at day 14. It usually lasts up to 4 months, but often the duration of effect is longer. The effect of the treatment accumulates over repeated courses.

The Botulinum toxin anti wrinkle injections are heavily researched in clinical medicine. Whatsmore, we use very small doses alongside our expert technique to ensure the best result is achieved.

As with any medical treatment there is always a risk of side effects. The commonest side effects include tenderness and bruising. Tenderness tends to improve after a few days. Bruising can take around 7 days to resolve but can be disguised with make up the day after treatment. The techniques we use are aimed to minimise the risk of bruising.

More specific treatment related side effects will be discussed with you prior to your treatment.

In order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission your initial consultation will begin over the phone or via video link. We will discuss your medical and aesthetic history and determine your suitability for treatment. After analysis of your images we will book an appointment in our clinic. From here we will re-analyse your face.

During treatment your face will be cleansed and prepared. We will discuss anaesthetic options, though most of our clients tend to tolerate the treatment without this. A fine needle will be used for injection.

After treatment you will be given written advice. For the first 24 hours we advise you avoid touching the treated area and applying make up. For the first 48 hours we advise avoiding exercise and extreme changes of heat such as saunas and steam rooms.

Don’t have facial massages, facial electro stimulation, dermaroller, semi-permanent make up, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks after your treatment. 

You will also be issued with a 24 hour contact number which can be used to seek emergency advice.

There is no down time or recovery time required after anti wrinkle treatment so usually you will be able to return to work the next day.
